Eintracht Frankfurt manager Dino Toppmoller expects Hugo Ekitike to spearhead Liverpool’s attack when the teams clash at Deutsche Bank Park on Wednesday.

The French forward impressed off the bench in Liverpool’s recent draw with Manchester United, and Toppmoller—who coached him for 18 months—anticipates he will start.

“I’ve worked with several Liverpool players, including Szoboszlai, Konaté, Gravenberch, and of course Ekitike,” Toppmoller told TNT Sports. “We had a close connection—he fits in perfectly, scores goals, and makes a big impact. I expect him to start tomorrow.”

Liverpool boss Arne Slot has hinted at squad rotation for the game: “We’ll rotate a lot of players tomorrow, as we did on Saturday. We have more than 11 starters, and we’ve done this multiple times—we might do it again tomorrow.”

Toppmoller dismissed suggestions that it’s an opportune moment to face Liverpool during a dip in form: “It’s not about timing. Look closely—they’ve been the better team in every match, creating the bigger chances, even at the weekend.”

The Frankfurt coach added with anticipation: “We’re excited to see him in action, and hopefully, we’ll come out as winners.”
